Aaron J. Engels, 32, formerly of Parsons, died at 1:15 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. He had been in failing health but his death was unexpected.
He was born October 15, 1974 at Luverne, Minnesota to Alan and Beth (VanderZiel) Engels. He grew up in South Dakota until moving to Parsons with his family in 1989. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1993. He later attended Kansas State University and graduated from DeVry University. In 1995, he enlisted in the United States Army and then entered the Kansas National Guard in 1999. He became a commissioned officer in 2004. He retired due to illness in July 2006. He also worked for several years as a manager for the Cintas Uniform Company.
He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially NASCAR. He was a member of the American Legion and had attended the Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
He was married to Kari D. Coppedge on September 25, 2001 aboard a ship in the Caribbean. She survives of the home.

Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Center Bethel Union Church near Parsons.Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors given by the 161st Field Artillery Battalion, Wichita, Kansas. The family will receive friends at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday. Memorials are suggested to an education fund for his daughter, Breckyn Leigh and these may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
