Abdul Nawab Omarkhail, 78, of Parsons, died at 1:41 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Labette Health.
He was born March 22, 1934, in Laghman, Afghanistan, to Abdul Monaff and Haniffa (Rahimullah) Omarkhail. He immigrated to the District of Columbia in the early 1960's to attend the American University.
He lived out most of his life in Arizona as a small business owner. His final four years were lived in Southeast, Kansas. He was employed at Wal-Mart in Parsons as a greeter and was most known for his outgoing personality, keen sense of humor and socialness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by six children: DJ Omarkhail of Chattanooga, TN; Peter Omarkhail of Parsons, KS; Shereen Ellis of Altamont, KS; Rebekah Elliott of Mexico; Kathryn Omarkhail of Fort Worth, TX; and Anissah Jackson of Dallas, TX; twelve grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, on the family's land located at 12000 and Scott Road, rural Labette County. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to the Lung Cancer Unit at the Via-Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
