Ada Marie (Kennedy) Heenan, 89, of Parsons, passed away at 10:42 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
She was born April 7, 1929 in St. Paul, Kansas to Lawrence E. and Elizabeth Ellen "Nellie" (Fager) Kennedy. As a young girl, she grew up in St. Paul where she attended school and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1946.
Following high school, Ada Marie worked in food service at Mercy Hospital in Parsons. On June 1, 1948, she and Donald W. "Don" Heenan were married at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Following marriage, the couple lived in Parsons where they made their home and raised their family. After raising their four children, she worked for 23 years in food service at Unified School District No. 503 until retiring. Her husband preceded her in death on May 26, 2018. The couple would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 1, 2018.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, its Altar Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and in earlier years taught CCD classes. Her family was her passion. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and attending their activities, cooking, and playing pinochle.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bill Kennedy, Larry Kennedy, and infant Paul Joseph Kennedy; and one sister, Helen Ann Rush.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the rosary at the funeral home.
