Olive Casey, a centenarian and lifelong resident of St. Paul, died at 7:00 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007, at her home.
She was born March 21, 1907, in St. Paul, Kansas, to Joseph A. and Agnes (Roycroft) Volmer. She grew up and attended schools in the St. Paul area, graduating from St. Francis High School.
She and William Patrick Casey were married April 22, 1930, in St. Paul. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1968. She was a homemaker and seamstress and enjoyed playing bridge and crocheting.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and Altar Society where she had served as an officer for a number of years, Daughters of Isabella, the Home Improvement Unit and the Harvest House. She also was named "Mrs. Mission Days 1998".
Survivors include two sons, Lyle Casey, St. Paul, KS, Bob Casey, Independence, KS; four daughters, Doris Owens, Wichita, KS, Carolyn Butts, Wichita, KS, Shirley O'Donnell, Edmond, OK and Evelyn Tajchman, Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2007, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the St. Francis Catholic Church with the parish Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the church.
Friends may call at the St. Francis Catholic Church after 1:00 p.m., Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Catholic Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
