Alan R. Conard

Alan R. Conard, 73, of Chetopa, passed away at 8:20 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Alan Ray Conard was born on July 29, 1950, to Raymond Dean and Bonnie Lou (Hatfield) Conard in Oswego, Kansas.  He grew up and attended school in rural Cherokee county, graduating from Columbus High School in 1968.

Over the years, Alan was a dozer operator in the coal mines.  He also farmed and raised pecans for many years.

He was a member of the Eagles of West Mineral.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy.  Alan enjoyed the river and especially catching fish in it.  Alan also enjoyed hot rods and was an expert crossword puzzle solver.

In 1970, Alan and Ann Addis were united in marriage.  The couple later divorced.

Survivors include:

Two sons – Aaron Conard (Nichole) of rural Chetopa, Kansas

Anthony Conard (Angie) of rural Columbus, Kansas

Five grandchildren – Laken McKinzie (Kasey); Riley Conard (Allison); Cambri Mosley (Tucker): Brali Conard (Wade); and Lilli Conard

Seven great-grandchildren – Rhyker Conard-Johnson; Callie Conard; Rowdy Mosley; C.J. McKinzie; Dexon McKinzie; Carsyn Conard; and Clara Conard (on the way)

One sister – Cindi McElroy of Chetopa, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven Dean Conard.

The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
