Albert D. Barker

Albert "Al" Dean Barker, 92, of Chanute, KS, passed away peacefully in his home Monday July 31st, 2023, with his family by his side.

Albert was born on May 17th, 1931, in Chanute, the son of George Barker and Mamie Viola (Hoffman) Folk.

At a young age, Albert enjoyed living on the farm of Les and Corinne Thompson. He enjoyed spending time in Oregon where he fell in love with the mountain landscapes. He loved farming, boxing, fishing, taking car rides around Santa Fe Lake, dancing, watching westerns and most of all reading his Louis L'amour books and other western novels. He loved spending time with friends and family the most, as a proud father of 8 children.

On October 23, 1965, Albert married Juanita (Allen) Barker in Erie, KS.  She survives of the home.

His siblings: Faith Dee Irvine of Port Orchard, WA.; Ilene Smith of Yates Center, KS; and Terry Barker of Highlandville, MO

Albert was proceeded in death by his parents; two sons, Cecil Barker and Thomas Barker; and nine siblings, Oren Barker, Frank Barker, Twila Barker, Ellen (Hoffman) Preston, Mary Alice (Hoffman) Tobin, Susan (Hoffman) Edwards, George Porter Barker, Ronald Miller, and Donald Miller.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2 pm at the Elk's Lake Club House in Chanute.  Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
