Alice V. "Allie" Shaw, 83, of Parsons, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Elm Haven East Nursing Home.
She was born June 27, 1932 in Parsons, Kansas at Mercy Hospital to Leon Edlee Shaw, Sr. and Edith Susan (Watkins) Shaw. She grew up in Parsons where she attended Douglass School, graduated from Parsons High School, and earned an Associate degree from Parsons Junior College.
She worked at Adventure Line Manufacturing Company and retired from the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center after 30 years of service.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served as trustee. She also served as treasurer of missions of the Southeast District Association and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star Langston Chapter 39 and the Voguette Club.
She enjoyed reading mysteries and books written by James Patterson and watching Big Brothers, The Amazing Race, Survivor, and Westerns. She also enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, baking cakes, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rose Marie "Ro Ro" Houston; two brothers, Edward G. Shaw and Gerald N. "Butch" Shaw; and a grandson, Jeremy Lee Shaw.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
