Alta May Foister, 95, longtime Edna resident, died at 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born June 14, 1911 at Elm City, Kansas to Henry C. and Nannie A. (Waugh) Hayes. She grew up in the Elm City area and attended school at the Rose Hill School which was two miles east of Edna.
She was married to Jesse H. Foister on May 25, 1929. They celebrated their 77th anniversary in May of this year. Following their marriage, they continued to live in the Edna area where they farmed for several years. In 1958, they moved to rural Coffeyville where Mr. Foister was employed as the caretaker of the Cedar Bluff Camp for 18 years. In 1974, they retired and moved back to Edna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, including her twin sister, Alma Fay Majors, Elizabeth Lillibridge and Opal Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Edna. The family will receive friends at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the ECO's Organization in Edna and these may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 510 S. Wabash, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, Kansas 67330.
