Chetopa

Amanda Marie Moore, 43, of Chetopa, passed away at 11:48 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, surrounded by her loving family.

Amanda Marie Carter was born on August 29, 1979, to Mark A. and Brenda (Strickland) Carter in Miami, Oklahoma.  She grew up and attended school in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School.  In her younger years, she was in Girl Scouts and 4-H.  She and her brother, Adam, spent every summer at the ballfield playing softball and baseball.  During high school, Amanda was involved and excelled in 4-H and FFA.  She helped raise Carter Club lambs and showed the lambs at the Labette County and Coffeyville Interstate Fairs and the Kansas Junior Livestock Show.  At the Labette County Fair, she won Grand Champion market lamb.  While in high school, she earned the Star Senior Award in FFA.

Following high school, Amanda worked at Chetopa Manor and later earned an Associate's Degree.  She had been the administrator for Oswego Home Place and was currently the administrator for Legacy Living in Baxter Springs.  The elderly had a special place in Amanda's heart.  She never met an older person that she didn't love.

Her family was the center of her life.  She was an avid Chetopa Hornet's fan and never missed any of her children's and her nephew and niece, Blake and Emma's, games or activities.  Amanda was a Chetopa Pacers 4-H leader, Chetopa Ag Booster officer, Chetopa Showteam Member and Project Prom organizer.
