Arthur E. "Art" Almond, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 1:20 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 at his home.
He was born July 23, 1940 in Yates Center, Kansas to Walter A. and Neva Naomi (Tannahill) Almond. As a young child, he moved with his family to Parsons where he attended school at Lincoln Elementary, East Jr. High, and graduated from Parsons High School. While in high school, he worked at Gribben Motors and also attended automotive technical school.
He and "Beanie" Wilkinson were married August 29, 1958 in Parsons. Art proudly served in the United States Navy for 23 years. After being honorably discharged and retiring from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer, they lived in Sabine Pass, Texas and later moved to a ranch in Boerne, Texas. While living in Boerne, he worked at the United States Post Office until being transferred to Lamar, Missouri. Through the years, Art also worked as a mason. In 2002, they moved to Parsons where he enjoyed delivering automobile parts for O'Reilly's. Art especially enjoyed working and being around people.
In younger years, he attended the Methodist church. Art was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Robbie and Phyllis Almond of Sabine Pass, TX
One Daughter – Wendy Almond of Parsons, KS
Twelve Grandchildren
Fourteen Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank Almond and Norman Almond.
A memorial visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons with military honors being given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Parsons.
