Arthur D. "Art" Graves

Arthur Dale "Art" Graves, 92, longtime Bartlett farmer and rancher, died at 2:11 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.

He was born July 3, 1918, in Neosho, Missouri, to Loa and Pearl (Bendure) Graves. As an infant, he moved with his family to Bartlett where he attended Lake Creek School.

He and Lois Neely were married March 9, 1941, in Independence, Kansas. Following marriage, they made their family home in rural Bartlett. During the 1950's and 60's, he operated OK Propane Company. He also was an International Harvester dealer for 18 years, owner of Graves Equipment Company since 1951, a Bushhog mower distributor and Filson livestock equipment representative.

He attended the First Christian Church in Bartlett and was a member of the Edna Masonic Lodge and Mirza Temple in Pittsburg.

Survivors include:
Wife – Lois Graves of the home
One Son – Kenny Graves and wife, Linda Bartlett, KS
Two Daughters – Carol Wilson and husband, Rodger Chetopa, KS
Linda Ardon and husband, Ramiro Dallas, TX
Eight Grandchildren
Six Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Clifford Graves.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Bartlett. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the First Christian Church in Bartlett. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Bartlett. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
