Austin M. "Tobe" Dennis, 86, of Parsons, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Labette Health.
He was born April 28, 1928 in Neosho Falls, Kansas to Samuel Austin and Sadie Mae (Myers) Dennis. He grew up and attended school at Neosho Falls and graduated from high school there. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Navy. While serving in the Navy, he assisted in the delivery of the mail from the ships.
Austin worked at the Parsons Sun for ten years prior to becoming a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He retired at the age of 62.
He was a Methodist. Austin especially enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He had resided at Elm Haven West Nursing Home in Parsons since the summer of 2014.
Survivors include:
Three nephews including Elliott Williams of Parsons; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Margaret Renfro, on March 3, 2015.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. No services are planned.
