Barbara S. Bryant, 73, of Chetopa, Kansas passed away at 7:35 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Oswego Community Hospital in Oswego, Kansas.
She was born September 8, 1944 at Tulsa, Oklahoma to George and Hazel (Wright) Bush. As a young girl she moved with her family to Chetopa where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from the Chetopa High School in 1962 and later earned an associate's degree from the Labette Community College.
She was united in marriage with Gary W. Bryant on November 14, 1970. He survives of the home.
Barbara worked for a time at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. She also worked for the Sunoco Metal Building Manufacturing Company in Chetopa for a time. She had also worked as a bookkeeper for the Houser Building Supply Company and had worked as a tax clerk for Labette County for ten years until she retired.
She was an active member of the community and had been a member and president of the USD 505 school board. She had also served as a Girl Scout Leader in the past, Chetopa Historical Museum Board, Chetopa School Alumni Committee and had been a Junior High and High School youth leader at the First Christian Church in Chetopa where she was a member.
Barbara loved attending their kids and grandkids ball games and other activities. She also had enjoyed traveling with her husband, Gary.

Broc Bryant – Chetopa, KS
One Daughter: Cindy Johnson and husband, John – Chetopa, KS
Eight Grandchildren: Vandy Stapleton, Mickel Johnson, Vade Johnson, Jaya Johnson,
Jack Johnson, Andie Johnson, Blake Bryant and Gage Bryant
Five Great-grandchildren: Slade, Syler, Saxton and Suriniti Stapleton and Prezlee Price
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Chetopa. The Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa is in charge of arrangements.
