Barbara E. Taylor

Barbara E. Taylor, 100, of Edna, passed away the afternoon of Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Labette Health in Parsons

Barbara Ellen Sammetinger was born on August 8, 1924, to Walter and Mable (Waugh) Sammetinger in rural Edna.  Barbara was a native of Edna and graduated from Edna High School.  She received her pilot's license in 1948 and often flew Funk Aircraft Company planes.

On September 10, 1950, Barbara and Charles Taylor were united in marriage at the Elm Christian Church.  He preceded her in death on December 23, 2008.

For over 75 years, Barbara worked in the banking industry.  The Coffeyville Journal published an article that documented her as being one of the longest-standing bank employees in the state of Kansas.  She began working at the First National Bank in Edna as a teller.  She then went to work at the Condon National Bank, which later became Community National Bank.  At the time of her retirement, Barbara had become a loan officer.

Devoted to her Christian faith, Barbara was a member of the Elm Christian Church in Edna.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Foster, and her husband, Mark, of Edna, Kansas; one grandson, Colten Foster of Edna, Kansas; and one granddaughter, Sierra Wormington, and her husband, Josh, of Dallas, Texas; and one great-grandchild on the way.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Elm Christian Church in Edna.  A private burial will follow at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery.
