Barbara L. Troester, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.
She was born May 19, 1938 in Eureka, Kansas to Delbert and Alice (Green) Gamblian. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Eureka and was a 1954 graduate of Eureka High School.
On June 4, 1955, she and Larry E. Troester were married in Crown Point, Indiana. Following marriage, the couple lived in East Chicago, Indiana for a year before moving to Davenport, Iowa. In 1971, they returned to Parsons where they made their home and raised their family. For a time, Barbara worked at Ray Products and Woodworth Home Care.
She was a member of Westside Christian Church in Parsons. She loved cooking, growing flowers, taking care of her family and her home, and doing bible studies with the elderly in nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Larry Eugene Troester, on October 25, 1995; one brother, Donald Gamblian; one grandson, Jerry Mead; and dear friend and cousin, Geneva Grimmett.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at East Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
