Barbara Kay Workman, 70, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society of Parsons.
She was born on December 20, 1954, to Burris and Ardith (Moore) Milliron in Topeka, Kansas.
For a time, Barbara worked at Day and Zimmerman in Parsons. She worked in restaurants and food service for most of her career, including Taco Tico, as a lunch lady at St. Patrick Catholic School, Jack's Pizza and as a cook at Parsons State Hospital.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.
Known for her cooking, Barbara loved to feed her family. She was a devoted mother and a loving wife. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and going on weekend trips and adventures with her husband and soulmate, Paul.
On October 29, 1977, Barbara and Paul T. Workman were united in marriage at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Paul preceded her in death on July 14, 2020.
Survivors include:
Two sons – Jared Workman (Jessica) of Parsons, Kansas
Nicholus Workman of Parsons, Kansas
One daughter – Angela Aders (Paul) of Parsons, Kansas
Six grandchildren – Grace, Isabel, Jacen, and Eisley Workman and Henry and Abby Kay Aders
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends after the rosary.
Memorials are suggested to benefit the cancer treatment of Toby Neel. Checks may be made payable to Angela Workman. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
