Bessie Logan, 94, of Mound Valley, died at 10:40 a.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 2, 1920 in Porter, Oklahoma to John Sterling and Della (Davis) Ramsey. As a young girl she grew up in Oklahoma. At the age of 14, she moved with her family to Mound Valley where she attended school.
On June 16, 1942, she and Raymond Delbert Logan were married in Wichita. After marriage, the couple made their home in Mound Valley. Her husband preceded her in death on August 23, 1993. Following her husband's death, she continued to live in Mound Valley.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She enjoyed baking, reading, traveling, gardening and growing flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Donald Logan, Milwaukee, WI; one daughter, JoAnn Etter, Mound Valley, KS; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Peyton, Coffeyville, KS and Mary Heibsch, Waldo, AR.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters, and one son, John D. Logan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
