Bette J. (Davis) Parker, 88, of Parsons, passed away at 8:19 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born April 16, 1926 in Harper, Kansas to Homer S. and Ruby F. (Riggs) Davis. As a young girl, she grew up on the family farm near Helena, Oklahoma. She attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School near Goltry, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Helena High School in Helena, Oklahoma where she participated in band.

On October 18, 1943, she and Paul E. Parker were married. Following her husband's discharge from the United States Navy during World War II, they moved to a farm near Byron, Oklahoma in 1946. She was active in PTA, sold Avon, and was a member of the Fish Hatchery Club not far from where she lived. In 1967, they moved to a farm near Erie, Kansas. They divorced in 1979. She then moved to Parsons where she worked at various jobs including the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1968 until her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Parsons. In earlier years, Bette served on the Election Board while living in Oklahoma. She also enjoyed riding horses, skating, playing the piano, and music. In March of 2013, she entered Presbyterian Manor where she was currently residing.

Survivors include one son, Gary L. Parker, San Antonio, TX; three daughters, Cheryl A. McKee and her husband, Allan, Erie, KS, Paula J. Parker, San Antonio, TX, and Linda D. Hollinghead, Coffeyville, KS; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Herbert Davis and his wife, Jane, Pierre, SD; and a half-sister, Cathy J. Rowten and her husband, Mike, Edmond, OK.

She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Davis; her mother, Ruby Davis, who died in an automobile accident on November 20, 1943; her stepmother, Alta Davis, in 2010; and one sister, Patty J. Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
