Rev. Betty L. Eckles, 83, of Chetopa, formerly of Mound Valley, died at 2:10 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Centralia, Oklahoma, to Delbert Howard and Lydia May (Bell) Kirk. She grew up and attended school near Miami, Oklahoma.
Through the years she had lived in Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma. She had pastored at various churches including Chetopa and Mound Valley and was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Mound Valley.
She enjoyed writing songs and poems, playing the piano and guitar, doing crafts, cooking, sewing and quilting.
On March 14, 1983, she married Robert K. Eckles. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2002.

Two Sisters – Bonnie Cox Miami, OK
Lawanda Delmont Galena, KS
She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, one son and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
