Betty L. McWilliams, 89, of Parsons, died at 5:20 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Oswego Community Hospital.
She was born September 14, 1923, in Ft. Scott, Kansas, to William S. and Blanche Emma (Williams) Batley. She grew up in Ft. Scott where she attended schools and was a graduate of Ft. Scott High School and later Ft. Scott Jr. College where she earned a teaching certificate. She taught one year prior to marriage.
On April 17, 1946, she and Glenn H. McWilliams were married in Ft. Scott. Following marriage, they lived in various towns in Kansas and Missouri before returning to Ft. Scott in 1980. They remained in Ft. Scott until 1996, at which time they moved to Parsons. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2007.
She enjoyed reading, NASCAR, baseball, dominoes, playing cards, football and collecting bells.

Two Great-Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott. Friends may call at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons after 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday.
