Betty V. (Miller) Wiley

July 19, 1927 — December 27, 2011

Betty V. (Miller) Wiley, 84, of rural Oswego, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at her home.


She was born July 19, 1927, near Altamont, Kansas to Forrest and Virgie (Raymond) Miller. She grew up and attended rural schools in Labette County and was a 1945 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
She attended Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg (Pittsburg State University) attaining her teaching certificate. She taught the 1945-46 school year at Foland School, rural Bartlett.

She was married to Milan D. Wiley on March 11, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She enjoyed her family and farm life, especially raising poultry. She was a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Kansas Farm Bureau.

Daryl Wiley and wife, Judy Marshfield, MO
Steven Wiley and wife, Janice Charlotte, TN
Scott Wiley and wife, Shelly rural Altamont, KS
Two Daughters – Marilyn Nelson and husband, Don rural Caney, KS
Carolyn Nelson and husband, Dareld rural Edna, KS Sixteen Grandchildren
Thirteen Great-Grandchildren
One Sister – Darlene Harshaw Oswego, KS

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by infant son, Garold; brother, Arden Miller; sister, Rosella Feldt; and granddaughter, Andrea (Wiley) Shaffer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at the Altamont United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
