Betty Jean (Scheibner) Sears, 80, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 9:11 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006 at her home.
She was born April 3, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frederick H. and Clara A. (Prosser) Scheibner. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School. She had lived at her home for all 80 years of her life.
On July 19, 1944, she and Jack Sears were married in Girard, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1989.
Betty was an avid reader. She enjoyed studying history, archeology, anthropology and genealogy. She had traced her family history back to the 1600's. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in attending her great-grandsons sporting events and was their biggest fan. She especially loved a good game of professional baseball. In previous years, she had attended the First Baptist Church in Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
