Betty J. Wulf, 85, of Chetopa, passed away on the evening of Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Freeman Health in Joplin.

Betty Jane Rue was born on February 8, 1939, to Cedric and Ecelia (Franco) Rue in Roswell, New Mexico.  Betty was married to John Wulf, Sr., on September 19, 1956.  They moved many times throughout the United States and overseas to England while John was in the Air Force.  After his retirement from the military, they finally settled back in Chetopa.  They were married until John's passing in 2003.  As an adult, Betty completed her GED Certificate through Labette County High School.  Using her education and her entrepreneurial spirit, Betty, with her husband, John, owned and operated a town motel in Chetopa.  She gave exemplary hospitality at her motel and while working at the Old Mill Inn restaurant located next door. Betty loved caring for her family as a military spouse, farm wife and homemaker.

In earlier years, she was a member of the Catholic church in Chetopa until it closed.  She then attended the First Christian Church in Chetopa, where she enjoyed singing in praise and worship.

A talented seamstress, Betty enjoyed spending time crafting and gardening.
