Bill L. Carlson, 76, of Parsons, passed away at 8:25 a.m., Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Labette Health.

Billy Lee Carlson was born on November 16, 1944, to Oscar Leonard and Eunice Lucitta (Dollard) Carlson in St. John's, Michigan. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Arkansas City, where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Arkansas City High School.

Following high school Bill moved to Parsons and worked at Kress Five and Dime. After moving and working in Miami, Florida, for several years, Bill returned to Parsons. He was a supervisor at Slayman Beverage and the Anheuser distributor. He was then a custodian for Parsons schools until his retirement.

Bill enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking care of his yard, watching softball and taking drives around the lake.

On May 19, 1973, Bill and Betty Totten were united in marriage at Geuda Springs, Kansas. The couple later divorced. He and Dixie Sissel married. The couple later divorced.

Survivors include:

Two sons – Scott Carlson of Tuscon, Arizona

Clint Carlson of Fort Worth, Texas

Two daughters – Karena Stirk of Reno, Nevada

Inger Carlson of Wichita, Kansas

Seven grandchildren

One brother – Bob Carlson and his wife, Rose, of Shell Knob, Missouri

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred Carlson; and one sister, Margaret Rapp.

No service has been planned. Following cremation, burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
