Billy R. "Bill" Moore, 92, of Lenexa and long-time former Parsons resident, passed away at 11:19 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2023, at Sunrise of Lenexa in Lenexa, Kansas.
Billy Ray Moore was born on January 5, 1931, to Frank and Rosina Johanna (Seifert) Moore in rural St. Paul. He grew up and attended school in the rural Parsons area, graduating from McCune High School in 1949.
From March 1951 to February 1953, Bill was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Bill returned to the Parsons area. He worked at Powell Aubrey's business and later Charloma, until retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He also held memberships in the Katy Golf Club and Brown-Bishop VFW Post 704. First a family man, Bill also loved to play golf and enjoyed doing woodworking.
On March 7, 1959, Bill and Shirley J. Hedrick were united in marriage in Parsons. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2021.
Survivors include:
Twin daughters – Brenda M. Butcher of Lenexa, Kansas
Gina R. Ireland of Lenexa, Kansas
Three grandchildren – Taylor Marrisa Ireland, Payton Leonidas Ireland, and Breck Moore Butcher
One brother – Jack F. Moore of Topeka, Kansas
One sister – Jewell Haney of Houston, Missouri
Besides his wife, Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert L. Moore; and one sister, Rena Shouse.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may sign the register for Mr. Moore from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
