Billy E. Castle, 79, of Pierce City, Missouri, formerly of Chetopa, Kansas, died at 2:25 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Monett Health Care Center in Monett, Missouri. He had been in failing health.
He was born September 6, 1928, in Hackberry Township, rural Chetopa, Kansas, to Joe and Cora (Riley) Castle. He grew up and attended schools in Chetopa graduating from Chetopa High School.
He joined the United States Army and served in the 5th Army Division as field wireman.
He and Myrna Hildebrand were married in 1956. To their union was born three sons, Gary, Larry and Rick; and one daughter, Regina. They later divorced. He and Viola Horn Reed married in 1977, at which time he moved to Pierce City. She preceded him in death in 1989. He and Frances Freeman were married in 1991 and had lived at their present address in Pierce City, Missouri, since that time. She survives, of the home.
He retired from Wells Aluminum Corporation in Monett.
He loved coaching little league baseball in Chetopa for many years while his health permitted. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Chetopa and a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was baptized at the Congregational Church in Pierce City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
