Billy G. McGuire, 70, of Oswego, passed away at 6:53 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Billy Gene McGuire was born on October 7, 1954, to Warren Gene and Ruth Ilene (Plotner) McGuire in Cherryvale, Kansas.  He grew up and attended school in Cherryvale.  After high school, Billy earned an associate's degree.  He also served in the United States Army.

Most of his career was spent as a draftsman/welder.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Church of Latter-day Saints in Parsons.

Billy loved his family dearly.  Spending time with them was his favorite thing to do.  In his younger years, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed reading the scriptures.

He was united in marriage to Bonnie Lynn Payne.  She survives of the home.

Billy is also survived by his son, Jon McGuire (Trisha) and their children, Jared and Jonny McGuire; his son, Billy McGuire (Leslie) and their children, Lucas McGuire and Paige (Tanner) Miller, his son, Richard McGuire (Melissa) and their children, Gaige, Memphis and Cheyenne McGuire; his son, Spencer Grillot;; his daughter, Robyn Goddard; his son Robert McGuire (Tifanie Bartholomew) and their children, Brianna and Brittany Boucher; his daughter, Leah McGuire and her children, Emma, Brody, Brogan, and Bryson Royer; two great-grandchildren; Mia and Macie Miller, and his sisters, JoAnn Jordan (Jr.), Sharon McGuire, Becky Ellison, and Linda Busse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack McGuire and Edwin McGuire.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Parsons. Visitation will be the hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. Memorials are suggested to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter day Saints and may be sent in care of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
