Billy E. "Bill" Murphy, 79, of Parsons, passed away at 7:26 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Billy Eugene Murphy was born on January 6, 1943, to Eugene Truman and Myrtle Louise (Sailsbury) Murphy in Parsons.  He grew up and attended school in Parsons, until moving with his family to California in 1958.  In 1960, he returned to Parsons with his family when they moved back and has lived in Parsons since.  Over the years, Bill worked for SKIL and SCOOP in Parsons.

He most recently attended Wesley United Methodist Church.  In the past, he had been a member of Parsons Jaycees, Sunflower CBers and the Big Hill CB Club.  He enjoyed painting, making beadwork and doing crafts and growing flowers.

On August 5, 2000, Bill and Marcia Gale Myers were united in marriage.  The couple later divorced.

He is survived by two brothers, Pat Murphy and his wife, Joan, of Parsons, Kansas; and Michael Murphy and his wife, Pamela, of Frontenac, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Debbie Nicholas.

The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may stop by the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home to sign the register from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday.
