Bobbie D. Palmer, 73, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobbie Dean Palmer was born on March 23, 1951, to Claude and Virginia P. (Cornog) Hall in Wichita, Kansas.

For 33 years, Bobbie worked for the railroad.  He started with the Katy railroad in 1970, advanced to being a switchman for the Union Pacific, and retired as a yard master for the UP in 2003.

He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.  A talented woodworker, he made benches for many of his loved ones.  He loved caring for animals, including strays.  One of his favorite things were cars, especially his 1955 Chevy.  He enjoyed weightlifting and watching football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.

On August 15, 1970, Bobbie and Diane S. Bush were united in marriage in Parsons, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include:

One son – Robert D. Palmer and his wife, Gina, of Parsons, Kansas

One daughter – Jaime R. Pemberton and her husband, Ryan, of Parsons, Kansas

Four grandchildren – Brett Palmer; Kylea Palmer; Ali Ridgeway and her husband, Trent; and Kaitlyn Pemberton

Three great-grandchildren – Braxton Palmer, Gabriel Ridgeway and Layla Ridgeway

One brother – Claude "Jr." Hall and his wife, Sue, of Scammon, Kansas

One sister – Linda Shufelt of Arkansas

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Following cremation, there will be a private family graveside service at the McCune Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS).  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
