Bonnie L. Conard

Bonnie L. Conard, 87, of rural Chetopa, passed away at 11:05 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

She was born January 21, 1932 in rural Labette County, Kansas to Arthur and Frances (McCollum) Hatfield.  As a young girl, Bonnie grew up in Chetopa where she attended school and graduated from Chetopa High School.

On June 8, 1948, Bonnie and Raymond Dean Conard were married in Bentonville, Arkansas.  Following marriage, the couple lived in rural Cherokee County where they raised pecans, farmed, raised cattle, and owned Cherry Creek Orchards.  The couple had celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to his death on December 14, 2018.

She was baptized in the Methodist church.  Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, and fishing.

One Son – Alan Conard of Chetopa, KS

One Daughter – Cindi McElroy of Chetopa, KS

Two Grandchildren – Aaron Conard (Nichole) and Anthony Conard (Angie)

Great-Grandchildren – Laken McKinzie (Kasey), Riley Conard (Allison), Cambri Mosley (Tucker), Brali Conard, and Lilli Conard

One Great-Great-Grandson – Rhyker Conard-Johnson

One Great-Great-Granddaughter – Callie Conard

One Sister – Wanda Vaughn of El Centro, CA

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Steven Dean Conard; two brothers, Doyle Hatfield and Gary Hatfield; and one sister, Marva Lee Puckett.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.  Friends may call at their convenience from noon until 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
