Bonnie A. Curtis

December 11, 1948 — May 13, 2022

Parsons

Bonnie A. Curtis, 73, of Parsons, passed away at Labette Health on Friday, May 13, 2022. She had been in her usual health and her death was unexpected.

Bonnie A. Post was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 11, 1948, the daughter of Robert Dorman Post and Olive Marie (DeGray) Post. As a young girl she moved to Parsons where she grew up and attended school. Bonnie graduated from Parsons High School in 1966. For a time, Bonnie worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company at the office in Parsons. She also worked as a seamstress at the former Broderick Shirt Factory in Parsons. Later, Bonnie attended the Pittsburg State School of Cosmetology and then started the Curtis Clipper beauty salon with her sister-in-law, Judy Curtis. They operated the salon from 1981 until retiring in 2014.

Bonnie enjoyed fishing, doing various handcrafts, especially cross-stitch and making homemade Christmas gifts. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping and she had a "Shop 'til You Drop" philosophy. She also enjoyed photography and had even developed her own pictures. Bonnie loved babies and holding her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being with her family was her greatest love. She was an excellent seamstress and had enjoyed making clothing for herself and her family. Bonnie always said she was put on the earth to be a caregiver. She had a heart of gold and would help others anyway she could.

Bonnie was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons and had most recently attended the Western Way Cowboy Church. She had enjoyed attending Bible Study groups.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Ronald B. Curtis on October 7, 1967 at the former Washington Avenue United Methodist Church.
