Bonnie M. Nickelson, 74, of rural Parsons, went home to be with her Lord at 10:03 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Labette Health.
Bonnie Mae Richmond was born on April 28, 1946, to Joseph William and Vena Bonita (Clary) Richmond in Vernon County, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in the Fort Scott area.
Over the years, Bonnie worked at a number of places in Parsons, including Fred Ronald Manufacturing, Day and Zimmerman, Labette County Medical Center and Ray Products.
In her younger years, she was a member of the Baptist Church in Garland, Kansas.
On April 18, 1969, she and Gary Leroy Nickelson were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.

One son – Joe Nickelson of Parsons, Kansas
One daughter – Debbie Claspill of Plainville, Georgia
One step-son – James Nickelson of Fort Scott, Kansas
One step-daughter – Monica Nickelson
Eleven grandchildren
Five great-grandchildren
One brother – Larry Richmond of Lyndon, Kansas
One sister – Shirley Colvin of Garland, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandchild.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends may call at the funeral home to sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
