Brian L. Morton, 72, of Grove, Oklahoma, and formerly of Parsons, Kansas, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Andover, Kansas at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 27, 1946 in Neodesha, Kansas to Joseph S. and Ruby (O'Brien) Morton. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in the Altoona-Midway area and graduated from Altoona-Midway High School. Following high school, he attended Independence Community Junior College for two years. He then attended Baker University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. While attending college, Brian was an outstanding basketball player.

After college, he taught math and coached at Altoona-Midway High School for five years. He then worked as a salesman for Nature's Fertilizer Company before working at TecTank in Parsons as a European sales manager. He most recently worked at Laidig in Mishawaka, Indiana as an international sales manager for the Asian market until retiring in December of 2015.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons where he led numerous mission teams for 20 years. For most of his adult life, he raised Hereford cattle. He enjoyed visiting with others and received great gratification in helping those in need. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends across the globe.

He and Judith Anderson were married in 1968. They later divorced. On October 12, 1984, he and Sharon K. (Shields) Spease were married at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Grove where they were currently residing.

Two Daughters – Kathy Kornmesser of Independence, MO

Tina Garrelts and her husband, Paul, of Andover, KS

Eleven Grandchildren – Jordan Morton, Regan Morton, Aaron King, Amber Hodgden, Tessa Herring, Kelly Kornmesser, Andy Hufman, Ally Spease, Ethan Lahey, Alex Garrelts, and Mason Garrelts

Nine Great-Grandchildren

One Brother – Richard Morton and his wife, Alicia, of Castle Rock, CO

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Morton, on July 23, 2005; and one daughter, Kelly Jo King, on January 8, 2012.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at High Prairie Cemetery near Altoona. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to Camp Chippewa near Ottawa, Kansas. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
