Calvin D. Newberry, 68, of rural St. Paul, passed away at 6:58 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home.
He was born March 7, 1948 in rural St. Paul, Kansas to Emerson and Hazel Marie (Culbertson) Newberry. As a young boy, he attended Bloomer and Mentor Country Schools in Neosho County and was a 1967 graduate of Erie High School.
Calvin served in the Kansas Army National Guard. For a time, he worked at Bush Hog in Galesburg and had farmed throughout his adult life.
He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting and coon hunting. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
On June 7, 1975, he and Reta Clark were married in South Mound, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Newberry, on November 6, 2007; his mother, Hazel Newberry, on October 5, 2003; an infant sister, Gloria Newberry; a brother-in-law, Lee Baker; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Allen.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at Mt. Hope Cemetery near Galesburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
