Carl A. Fontelroy, 60, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of Parsons, died at 10:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Belleville.

He was born July 9, 1951, in Parsons, Kansas, to Walter Fontelroy, Sr. and Claretha (Ponds) Fontelroy. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a 1968 graduate of Parsons High School. Following graduation, he served 23 years in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was stationed at the San Diego Naval Base in San Diego, California, Long Beach, California and Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon his return to the mainland, he was stationed in South Carolina and Long Island, New York. While in the Navy, he received a degree in Human Resources and was also a certified public accountant. Upon his honorable discharge, his rank was Master Chief Petty Officer First Class.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and was ordained by Elder Virgil Watson and assisted at his father's church in Galena, Kansas. He was currently pastoring at the Psalms of Bethel Church of God in Christ in Belleville, Illinois.

He and Dorothy Adams of San Pedro, California, were married. To this union were born two children, Daryl and Le`Tisha. They were later divorced. He and Doris Redmond of Hot Springs, Arkansas, were married. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Fontelroy, Sr., and three brothers, Walter Fontelroy, Jr., Phares A. Fontelroy and Michael Fontelroy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons.
