Carl H. Merman, 82, of Frontenac, formerly of Parsons, died March 6, 2008, in his home. He was in his usual health and death was unexpected.

He was born June 24, 1925, in Parsons, Kansas, to John C. and Nellie L. (Rice) Merman. As a young boy, he grew up in Parsons and attended schools there.

He worked as a self-employed professional painter and paper hanger and also as foreman at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.

He and Clela V. Sievert were married September 1, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death January 12, 2000.

He was a devoted husband, father and man of God and member of Westside Christian Church in Parsons. In his earlier years, he was an active Assistant Master in Boy Scouts. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and an avid gun collector.

He leaves two sons, John C. Merman of Joplin, Missouri, and Mark E. Merman of Bullhead City, Arizona; a daughter, Virginia L. Merman of Parsons, KS; one sister, Eloise J. Nichols of Micco, Florida; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
