Carol C. Salsbery, 80, of Parsons, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at her home.
Carol Axtell was born on March 1, 1946, to Lee Charley and Golda May (Brown) Axtell in Altamont, Kansas.
She worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for over 29 years in different capacities including food service, as a direct caregiver, and as a telephone operator.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. An avid reader, Carol also enjoyed crocheting and growing flowers. Dogs had a special place in Carol’s heart, especially her three dogs, Daisy, Sophie, and Melody.
On July 13, 1963, Carol and Kenneth Salsbery were united in marriage in Parsons. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2019.
Survivors include:
One son – Wade Salsbery of Webb City, Missouri
Two daughters – Jennifer Sevart and her husband, Brad, of King George, Virginia
Joanne Noe and her husband, Dan, of Parsons, Kansas
Six grandchildren
Four great-grandchildren
One great-great-grandchild
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Charley and Golda May Axtell; one daughter, Donna Fraker; two brothers, Harold Axtell and Norman Axtell; and two infant sisters, Mary K. Axtell and Virginia M. Axtell.
There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
