Carol A. Smith , 76, of Edna, Kansas passed away at 3:32 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was born August 8, 1942 at Coffeyville, Kansas to George and Ruth (King) Muir. She grew up and attended school in Coffeyville and graduated from the Field-Kindley High School there in 1960. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
On July 12, 1964, she was united in marriage to John W. Smith at the Christian Church in Coffeyville. Prior to their marriage, she had worked as a beautician in Coffeyville for a time. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in the rural Edna, Kansas area throughout their lives. They also raised cattle and hogs.
Carol loved animals and had raised dogs in the past. She loved music and especially enjoyed Blues music. She was also an avid Professional Bull Riding fan and enjoyed arts and crafts of various kinds.
Survivors include her Husband: John – of the home; Two Sons: Tim Smith – Drumright, Oklahoma and Chris Smith (Judy) – Edna, Kansas; One Daughter: Susan Charles (Brian) – Hot Springs, Arkansas
Six Grandchildren: John Charles, Katie Charles, Lauren Charles, Ryan Smith, Blaine Smith and Aidan Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont with Allan Banzet officiating. Burial will follow at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Labette County Fair Board or the 4H Boosters and these may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 510 S. Wabash, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
