Caroline S. Bogard, 77, of Chetopa, passed away at 3:04 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Labette Health in Parsons.

Caroline Sue Bays was born on February 3, 1943, to Nova Henry and Lora Alice (George) Bays in Galesburg, Kansas. As a young girl, she grew up and attended Catalpa school in the "Piper Hill" area of rural Altamont. In 1961, Caroline graduated from Labette County Community High School.

For 35 years, Caroline worked at Power Flame in Parsons.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chetopa, where in earlier years she taught Sunday school.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren's activities. She also enjoyed reading and watching HGTV.

On June 16, 1962, Caroline and Donald L. Bogard were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Chetopa. He survives of the home.

Steven Collins of Kansas City, Missouri

Mackenzee Willey of Parsons, Kansas

Ten great-grandchildren – Jalynn, Jayden and Brayden Pease of Columbus, Kansas

Daylynn Hamilton of Columbus, Kansas

Shirley Morris of Columbus, Kansas

Brother-in-law – Raymond "Steve" Walker (LewAnn) of Galveston, Texas

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Bays and Donald Lee Bays; and one sister, Connie Bays.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.

Memorials are suggested to the Chetopa Food Bank. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
