Carolyn J. Dumm, 89, of Springfield, Missouri, and formerly of Altamont, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Carolyn Jean Welch was born on March 30, 1934, to Clark M. and Pauline (Goodrich) Welch in Wichita, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Wichita. Following high school, she earned a Bachelor's degree in music. For a few years, she taught and was an accompanist at the Wichita School for Fine Arts. She taught tap dancing and was her husband's accompanist. When the couple lived in Carbondale, Kansas, Carolyn taught piano for a year. She was the assistant librarian at Moundridge, Kansas, and also worked as an aide at a nursing home for several years. Most of her years were spent raising her family and lovingly making a comfortable home for them.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altamont. Over the years, she held various offices in Ladies Methodist church groups and played the organ. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Unit and was involved with the Altamont Library.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Carolyn also enjoyed playing golf, riding horses, gardening and taking care of her yard.
Carolyn and Larry G. Dumm were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2003.

Sherri Teer and her husband, Wayne, of Wichita, Kansas
Marla Dumm of Springfield, Missouri
Yvonne Wilson and her husband, Paul, of Swansea, Illinois
Susan Gould and her husband, Geoffrey, of Wellington, Colorado
Four grandchildren – Kyle Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Ryan Teer, and Gabriel Baldwin
One great-granddaughter – Nora Wilson
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
