Carolyn M. (Looney) Rickard, 74, formerly of Mound Valley, died at 12:15 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home in Independence.
She was born on November 17, 1942 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Emmett and Mildred (Hoffman) Looney. She grew up in Mound Valley and graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1960. She late attended Coffeyville Community College where she earned an Associate degree. She worked as a Laboratory Technician for several years at the Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute and later at the Cedar Vale Community Hospital.
Carolyn enjoyed animals, crochet, reading, and arts and crafts.

Twin daughters – Jenifer Fulton and her husband Jamey of Yates Center, KS
Jeanette Rickard of Cherryvale, KS
Two grandchildren – Tracy Rickard and Meeka Barahona
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rodney Looney, a sister Patricia Merrick, and her companion of many years, George "Tommy" Martin.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., Sunday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
