Carolyn A. (Stewart) Cunningham

November 25, 1942 — February 14, 2007

Carolyn A. (Stewart) Cunningham, 64, a former longtime resident of Parsons, died at 6:10 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born to Tom and Loretta (Moore) Stewart on November 25, 1942, in Winfield, Kansas. As a child, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended Douglas Elementary School, Parsons High School and Parsons Jr. College. She later attended cosmetology school.

While living in Joliet, Illinois, she worked in a hospital in housekeeping. She later moved to Indiana for a short time before returning to Parsons in 1975. She worked at Fred Ronald's Manufacturing in Parsons from 1975 to 1977. In 1977 she began her employment at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and continued working there until her retirement in 1994. She had moved to Topeka to be near her family three years ago.

On April 9, 1973 she and Willie B. Perry, Jr. were married. They later divorced. On April 9, 1983 she and Charles J. "Country" Cunningham, Jr. were married in Pleas Chapel in Parsons. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2006.

She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, painting, ceramics, making t-shirts and playing bingo. She was a member of the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons where she had served as choir director and pianist, and the City of Light Worship Center in Topeka.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ira, Tommy, Frank and Vernon; and two sisters, Alma and Kathleen.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2007, at Watson Memorial Church of God In Christ in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
