Cecil P. Volmer, 87, of St. Paul, died at 5:48 p.m., Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Girard Medical Center.

He was born April 26, 1923, in rural St. Paul, Kansas, to George and Rose (Knott) Volmer. As a young boy, he attended Odell country school. Following school, he began his lifelong love of farming and raising livestock.

He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.

He and Mary Rose (Beard) Diskin were married September 5, 1975, at St. Francis Catholic Church. She preceded him in death November 24, 2010.

Survivors include:
One Stepson – Terry Diskin and wife, Suzie St. Paul, KS
Two Stepdaughters – Paula Crager and husband, Kenny St. Paul, KS
Phyllis Hilburn and husband, Jeff Pullman, WA
Thirteen Grandchildren
Ten Great-Grandchildren
Two Sisters – Clara Belle Ebert Flush, KS
Rosemary O'Toole Girard, KS

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Bill Volmer; and two sisters, Garnett Boaz and Vera Diskin.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the church, where the family will receive friends immediately following.
