Charles Melvin "Buck" Bush, 82, of Parsons, died at 10:10 a.m., Sunday, August 2, 2009, at his home. He had been in failing health the past few months.
He was born December 16, 1926, on the Neosho River near Montana, Kansas, to Thomas Jasper and Ada Ellen (Garretson) Bush. He and Shirley Joyce Page were married on April 10, 1951, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He had several jobs before working at the Katy Railroad where he retired following 35 years of service.
Following his retirement, he served Meals on Wheels for three years, and received great enjoyment in playing cards, golfing at the Katy Golf Course, and bowling with "his ladies" on the senior league at Tower Bowl. He was a member of the Elks BPOE Lodge No. 527 and Brown Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on February 23, 2001; one infant son, one infant daughter, daughter, Phyllis Miller; six brothers, Thomas J. Bush, Wayne R. "Boots" Bush, Henry "Hank" Bush, Robert Bush, Claude Bush and Clyde Bush; two sisters, Orlean Baker and Gloria Mashburn; one grandson, Nathaniel Allen Mahan; and one great-grandson, Riley Wayne Bush.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
