Charles B. "Charlie" "C.B." Fritz, 89, of Chetopa, passed away at 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Labette Health in Parsons.

Charles Brewster Fritz was born on February 14, 1931, to Millard Fillmore and Corrine G. (Swanson) Fritz in Bartlett, KS. He was a 1950 graduate of Chetopa High School and earned an Associates Degree from Pittsburg State University.

C. B. was a well-loved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, co-worker, friend, and neighbor. He enjoyed driving the sites of S.E. Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Bertha Kepford, for over 50 years. As a proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was able to travel far beyond Labette County, Kansas. He retired from civil service at McConnell AFB and Wal Mart and returned to Chetopa.

C. B. was a lifetime member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and VFW Post 10508 - Chetopa Memorial Post. He enjoyed a full life of 89 years of relationships and experiences.

Survivors include:

One daughter – Charlotte Brindley and her husband, Chris, of Brockton, Massachusetts

Two sons – Bruce Fritz and his wife, Jana and their sons, Andrew and Luke, of Wichita, Kansas

Robert Fritz and his wife, Angela, and their daughter, Miranda, of Wichita, Kansas

One brother – Norman Fritz of Chickasha, Oklahoma

One sister – Frances Coppenbarger of Pottsboro, Texas

Numerous nieces and nephews

Many other family members, friends and neighbors

C.B. was preceded in death by his father, Millard Fritz; his parents, Corrine and William Coppenbarger; his sisters Marlene Fritz and Mary Sweeney; his wife and love of his life, Bertha Mae Kepford Fritz; and great friend and companion, Lois Schofield.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa with military honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Parsons. The wearing of facemasks and practicing social distancing are strongly encouraged at the service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Memorials are suggested to the Chetopa Veterans Memorial. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
