Charles E. "Charlie" Haven

Charles E. "Charlie" Haven, 82, of Chetopa, died at 7:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his home.

He was born October 12, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ezra Ernest and Gertrude Marie (Brewer) Haven. He grew up and attended school in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and California. He served in the United States Navy four years.

On February 20, 1951, he and Joan E. Roberts were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following marriage, they lived in Sand Springs until moving to Chetopa in 1958 where they have lived since.

He was a member of the Church of God in rural Blue Jacket, Oklahoma. He was also a former member of the Chetopa Chamber of Commerce where he had served as president and the Jaycees. He enjoyed go-karts, restoring and showing Volkswagens, and in earlier years had built a customized chopper. He took great pride in building the house they lived in and had built a shed on their property two years ago.

Penny Lynn McGill Yorba Linda, CA
Eight Grandchildren
Eight Great-Grandchildren
Three Great-Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by one brother and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
