March 31, 1952 — October 5, 2008

Charles V. "Chuck" Acklin, 56, a longtime Parsons businessman, died at 8:00
p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 31, 1952, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to Bill and Annabelle (Weber) Acklin. He grew up in the Chicago area, and as a young teenager, moved with his family to Nevada, Missouri, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He then attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.

For a time, he lived in Arizona and Arkansas, before moving to Parsons in 1980, where he had lived since. He and his wife, Bonnie, owned and operated Parsons Computers and Radio Shack and had recently celebrated the milestone of 25 years in business. The store closed in May of 2008 due to his failing health.

He enjoyed playing bass guitar, golfing, and computer technology. Through the years, he received great pleasure in mentoring young people who had chosen computer technology as their career. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Parsons Chamber of Commerce and the Parsons Free Will Baptist Church.

He and Bonnie Bohn were married August 25, 1989, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
