Charles D. "Dwain" Duecy, 86, of Erie, died at 6:21 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.
He was born May 19, 1927 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Charles Clayton and Mabel Louise (Holstin) Duecy. He grew up and attended school in Galesburg and was a graduate of Galesburg High School. He also attended The University of Kansas one year. During World War II, Dwain served in the United States Army Air Force.
On January 23, 1948, he and Martha P. Bennett were married in Oswego, Kansas. The family lived in Galesburg until moving to Erie in 1963. Through the years, the couple owned and operated Duecy Grain Company and Erie Grain Company. In 1973, they returned to Galesburg where they have lived since.
For many years, Dwain was an avid fast-pitch softball player and an avid KU basketball fan.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Duecy, of the home; five sons, Randy Duecy of Ft. Myers, FL, Michael Duecy and his wife, Lucia, of Austin, TX, Terry Duecy and his wife, Kay, of Erie, KS, Lynn Duecy of Erie, KS, and Alan Duecy and his wife, Heather, of Pittsburg, KS; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
