Charles R. Jones, 57, of rural Thayer, died at 2:15 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2009, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born September 30, 1951, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Lonzo and Frances (Patton) Jones. As a young boy, he grew up and attended schools in Claremore and was a graduate of Sequoyah High School.
For many years he hauled hay and worked as a heavy equipment operator at a coalmine. He also worked as a construction superintendent, heavy equipment foreman, dairy farmer, and later worked in servicing dairy equipment.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He and Anita Nations were married August 25, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1990 they moved to Thayer. She survives of the home.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2009, at Thayer City Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
