Charles I. Stevenson

March 27, 1945 — September 16, 2008

Charley I. Stevenson, 63, of Parsons, died at 1:15 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at his home. He had been in failing health.

He was born March 27, 1945, in Salina, Kansas, to Albert F. and Iva Marie (Cooper) Stevenson. He grew up and attended schools in Salina, graduating from Sacred Heart High School.

In 1978, he moved to Parsons where he worked, in sales, at Southwest Carbon and Sherwood Cabinets. He then worked as night foreman and data entry processor at Grandview Products, retiring from there due to ill health.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Parsons, and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and had celebrated 24 years of sobriety. He loved his A.A. family and touched many lives, sharing his experience, strength and hope. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting.

He and Julie Daley were married August 11, 1979. She survives of the home. His wife and children were his world, and his grandchildren made it shine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Stevenson and Raymond Stevenson; two sisters, Mary Carolyn Schmidt and Shirley Reed, one son, Shawn Wade Stevenson; and one daughter, Misty Lynn Stevenson.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The Parish Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the Rosary.
